A Note from Lisa April 2004
~~Happy Easter~~ ~~Happy Passover~~
Well, it's been over four years ago that I came to teach at Avant Garde Ballroom in Newport Beach, and the story behind it is pretty interesting. It's too long to go into here. If you're really interested, stop me and I'll tell you. And I'll always remember Larry bringing the champagne for us to celebrate. Classes were very small yet with support of my family & friends and hard work, we've all helped build our large group of dance friends. Over the years, many dancers have come to perform for us and I thank you all very much. This year our dance party is "And.Action April" and Actress Jude Narita has graciously agreed to perform a piece from her one-woman show, "Passion, Song for a Sansei", for which she has received numerous awards and performed in many countries. Also we will raffle off private lessons, gift certificates and U.S. Open Swing Dance Championship tickets. Come celebrate our 4th year Anniversary with us.
Our Tuesday Nights "Dance Night Out" has found a permanent stop at the Crazy Horse in Irvine, CA. When Tia Juana's changed our swing night, I wanted to keep our Tuesday nights going, and convinced the owner & manager (of the Crazy Horse) it was a great venue. The room is ours for the night, so dancers come out and see friends, meet new people, have fun, dance and with Eric DJ-ing, playing great music, we'll have the best Tuesday Dance Night ever. There's a Beginning West Coast Swing Lesson at 7:00, an Intermediate West Coast Swing Lesson at 7:30 & general dancing from 8:00-11:00. We will be there on April 6th & 20th of this month only (Concerts were already booked on the 13th & 27th). So far the month of May is open for us. I will keep you posted each week if I have your email address. You may sign up at the bottom of this page or email me at Lisa@Dance-Today.com.
The Crazy Horse is located in the Irvine Spectrum, parking is best at the backside by Dave & Busters, Tea Station and Homefindings Center. Walk in towards the Carousel and turn to the right. Cover is $10.00, $7.00 for Dance-Today Club members.
Along with our new venture at the Crazy Horse, we're announcing our new Dance-Today Dance Club. Membership is $30.00 per person and $50.00 for a married couple valid from now to April 2005. Discounts include $3.00 off at the door Tuesday nights, free admission to my dance at Avant Garde on your birthday, to other club's dances, restaurants include WingNuts in Costa Mesa, Charley Brown's in Long Beach, Crazy Horse in Irvine and Sam Ash Music Stores. I'll be working on adding to our list of discounts for you. We'll have membership forms Tuesday night at the Crazy Horse where you can sign up immediately and at our classes at Avant Garde.
With shamrocks all around the ballroom, we had great fun at our Magnificent March dance party and thank you to those who came. Jamie who brought her great brownies (thank you) also celebrated her birthday, and Mark who was visiting here from up North started off her gang dance. Thanks Jack for donating your OCWCSDC passes & memberships, and Carl for donating the Dancing Rabbit to our raffle. And thank you Aaron & Lynda, Jessica, Joshua, Matthew & Rachel, Eric & Elisabeth, Jer, JoAnn, Carolyn, Bev, Tim & Jasmin, Jimmy, Susan, Jack and Andre for all your help making our parties the best.

Last month was a very tough month for some of us. Julie lost her grandma, Shirley lost her mom, Bev lost her husband, David, and Sharron's brother, Melody lost her dad and Cecilia's dad isn't doing well after a stroke. Angel & Debbie lost their unborn child and Robert & Nicola although lost one baby of twins, were blessed with a new baby son. Deepest sympathy, sincere condolences and prayers are sent to you and your families.
Also in March, two very special people celebrated their birthdays, my Mom whose 78 and Skippy whose 80. Both had family and friends surrounding them, entertainment and lots of food to enjoy. Eighteen of my family flew into New York for my Mom's birthday and among her jazz friends singing and Frank Owens playing piano, Eric and I danced. At Skippy's, Jer & I saw many dance friends of ours. Both birthdays were a lot of fun and we were happy to attend.
I'm selling tickets at our front row table to the Jack 'n' Jill Orama June 11-13, 2004 in Anaheim. Tickets are $90.00 for all three days including Saturday night dinner. Let me know if you're interested, call me at (714) 330-3689. We could have two tables together if we act fast. Due to this event, our June dance will be on Saturday, June 19th.
I must continue this next month as I've run out of room to write much more.
Please take care of yourself and your loved ones, believe in truth & be honest
with yourself, remember to let your spirit out to play... and dance.
See you next month at our:
